Why industry knowledge matters
Every industry has its own vocabulary, regulations, systems and edge cases. A developer who already knows what HIPAA, PCI DSS, an MLS feed or a bill of materials means asks better questions, avoids expensive mistakes and delivers faster. Our industry pages explain the problems we solve and the systems we connect to in each sector.
What changes from one industry to another
The engineering fundamentals are the same everywhere, but four things vary a great deal between sectors — and getting them right early saves rework later:
| Area | Why it varies | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Regulation | Different laws govern data, records and accessibility | Healthcare and HIPAA; fintech and PCI DSS |
| Core systems | Each sector has its own established platforms to integrate with | Construction and Procore; real estate and MLS feeds |
| Users and environment | Field crews, clinicians and shoppers work in very different conditions | Offline apps for logistics drivers |
| Risk tolerance | The cost of an error ranges from inconvenience to safety or legal exposure | Government and legal records |
How we work with regulated and specialised sectors
We build the technical controls a sector requires — encryption, audit trails, access controls, retention rules and accessible interfaces — and work alongside your compliance, legal and security advisers, who remain responsible for interpreting obligations. We say clearly what we do and do not take on, and we document the controls we implement so they can be reviewed during audits and vendor assessments.
If your sector is not listed, the same approach applies. Tell us about your project through our contact page, and we will be honest about whether we are a good fit.
Common building blocks across sectors
Despite the differences, many industry projects reuse the same proven components: secure customer and partner portals, workflow automation that replaces paper and email, mobile apps for staff in the field, integrations with the sector’s established platforms, and dashboards that turn operational data into decisions. Reusing these patterns lets us spend more of each project on what is genuinely specific to your organisation.
See customer portals, business process automation and data analytics for the building blocks most industry projects draw on.
Starting an industry project
-
Discovery1–3 weeks
Understand workflows, users, systems and regulatory constraints with your domain experts.
-
Compliance mapping
Agree which controls the software must implement, with your advisers confirming obligations.
-
First release
Deliver the highest-value workflow first, integrated with your core systems.
-
Expand
Add further workflows, users and integrations based on real feedback.
How to brief us about your sector
You know your industry far better than any vendor. The most productive first conversations start with the operational detail only you have. Before an intro call, it helps to think about:
- The process that costs the most time or money today, and who does it
- The core systems involved and whether they offer APIs
- Regulations or client requirements that affect data, security or accessibility
- Who must approve a new system — operations, IT, compliance, procurement
- How you will know the project worked
We then come back with questions of our own, an honest view of where software can help and where process change matters more, and a proposed first step small enough to prove value quickly.
What a first engagement usually looks like
In most sectors we recommend starting with a short discovery — commonly one to three weeks — that maps the workflow, reviews integrations and confirms compliance obligations with your advisers. It ends with a prioritised backlog, an architecture outline and a fixed estimate for the first release. You own every document produced, whether or not you continue with us.

Not seeing your industry?
The sectors listed are those we focus on, not the only ones we serve. Many projects — customer portals, workflow automation, integrations, mobile apps for field staff — follow the same patterns in any business. If your sector has specific regulations, we work with your advisers to understand them and build the technical controls they require. Tell us what you do and we will say honestly whether we are a good fit.
Whatever your sector, the first conversation is free and carries no obligation. We will ask about your workflows, systems and constraints, and if another product or partner is a better fit, we will tell you.
Sector experience helps, but clear goals and engaged domain experts matter more.
What stays the same in every industry
- A discovery phase that maps your real workflows before anything is built
- Security and compliance requirements identified up front
- Integration with the systems you already rely on
- Two-week sprints, weekly reporting and full code ownership
