25 Best Shopify Apps to Grow Your Store in 2026

How we review: Ratings are editorial scores based on vendor documentation, published pricing and recurring themes in public user reviews. No vendor paid for placement and we earn no affiliate commission. Prices change often — confirm on each vendor's site.

The best Shopify apps for most stores in 2026 are Klaviyo or Omnisend for email and SMS, Judge.me for reviews, Shopify Flow for automation, Gorgias for support and Rewind for backups. Beyond that core, the right stack depends on your model: subscription brands need Recharge or Skio, large catalogs need better search, and paid-media-heavy brands need attribution.

This guide covers 25 apps across every major job a store has to do, with starting prices and the trade-offs that matter. If you are still choosing a stack, start with our comparison of email marketing apps. When the App Store runs out of answers, professional Shopify development can fill the gaps.

How we chose and rated these apps

We scored each app on five weighted criteria: features and fit for its job (30%), ease of use (20%), pricing and value (20%), integrations and API (15%), and support and reliability (15%). Ratings are editorial scores based on vendor documentation, published pricing on the Shopify App Store and vendor sites, and common themes in public user reviews on the App Store, G2 and Capterra. The 25 best Shopify apps in 2026

Email, SMS and list growth

1. Klaviyo — best for growing stores that want data-driven email and SMS

Our rating 4.7/5

Klaviyo is the default email and SMS platform for many Shopify brands. It syncs orders, browsing and catalog data so you can build segments and automated flows (welcome, abandoned cart, post-purchase, win-back) around real buying behavior.

  • Standout: Deep Shopify data sync, strong segmentation and predictive metrics such as expected customer lifetime value.
  • Watch out for: Costs climb quickly as your list grows, and the depth takes time to learn.
  • Pricing: Free up to 250 contacts; paid plans from $45/month. Visit Klaviyo

2. Omnisend — best for small and mid-size stores on a budget

Our rating 4.5/5

Omnisend covers email, SMS and web push in one builder, with prebuilt ecommerce automations that work out of the box. It is a common pick for stores that want most of what Klaviyo does at a lower price.

  • Standout: Ready-made automation workflows and a simple editor that small teams can run without a specialist.
  • Watch out for: Segmentation and reporting are less advanced than Klaviyo for complex, high-volume programs.
  • Pricing: Free up to 250 contacts; Standard from $16/month. Visit Omnisend

3. Privy — best for small stores focused on list growth

Our rating 4.0/5

Privy specializes in pop-ups, flyouts, bars and spin-to-win offers that turn visitors into email and SMS subscribers, with basic email sending built in.

  • Standout: Easy, conversion-focused capture forms with targeting by page, cart value and exit intent.
  • Watch out for: Email marketing features are basic; growing stores often pair it with a dedicated email platform.
  • Pricing: Free up to 100 contacts; paid from $24/month. Visit Privy

Reviews and user-generated content

4. Judge.me Product Reviews — best for stores that want reviews on a tight budget

Our rating 4.7/5

Judge.me collects and displays product reviews, including photo and video reviews, and is widely used because its free plan is generous and its paid plan is low cost.

  • Standout: Strong value, review imports from other apps and Google-friendly review snippets.
  • Watch out for: Default widget styling may need theme tweaks to look fully on-brand.
  • Pricing: Free plan; Awesome from $15/month. Visit Judge.me Product Reviews

5. Yotpo Product Reviews & UGC — best for brands that want reviews inside a wider loyalty and UGC suite

Our rating 4.1/5

Yotpo offers reviews, ratings and visual UGC, and connects to its broader retention products such as loyalty. It suits brands that prefer one vendor for several retention tools.

  • Standout: A broad suite with review syndication and moderation tools for larger catalogs.
  • Watch out for: Higher tiers get expensive, and the product range can feel complex for small stores.
  • Pricing: Free up to 50 reviews/month; Growth from $15/month. Visit Yotpo Product Reviews & UGC

6. Loox Product Reviews — best for visual, social-driven brands

Our rating 4.3/5

Loox focuses on photo and video reviews, with review-request emails, referral features and display widgets designed to look good on mobile.

  • Standout: Attractive visual review galleries that suit fashion, beauty and lifestyle products.
  • Watch out for: No free plan, and it is less suited to stores whose shoppers rarely post photos.
  • Pricing: From $9.99/month. Visit Loox Product Reviews

7. Okendo — best for scaling DTC brands that want premium reviews, UGC and surveys

Our rating 4.4/5

Okendo combines reviews, UGC, customer surveys and quizzes, and uses the data to build richer customer profiles for marketing tools like Klaviyo.

  • Standout: Zero-party data collection (attributes like skin type or fit) that feeds segmentation.
  • Watch out for: Pricier than budget review apps, so the value shows most for brands with real scale.
  • Pricing: From $19/month. Visit Okendo

Loyalty, subscriptions and upsells

8. Smile: Loyalty & Rewards — best for small stores that want easy points and referral programs

Our rating 4.4/5

Our rating 4.2/5

LoyaltyLion is built for brands that treat loyalty as a revenue channel, with flexible rules, on-site loyalty pages and analytics that show program impact.

  • Pricing: Free plan; paid from $249/month. Visit LoyaltyLion

10. Recharge Subscriptions — best for established recurring-revenue brands

Our rating 4.3/5

Recharge is the longest-running subscription app in the Shopify ecosystem. It manages subscribe-and-save, customer portals, billing retries and subscription analytics.

  • Standout: Mature feature set and a wide range of integrations with other retention apps.
  • Watch out for: The revenue share adds up as subscriptions grow.
  • Pricing: Standard from $99/month plus 1.25% of recurring revenue. Visit Recharge Subscriptions

11. Skio Subscriptions — best for subscription brands migrating for modern flows and retention

Our rating 4.2/5

Skio targets brands moving off another subscription app, with migration support, passwordless customer login and subscriber management by text message.

  • Standout: Retention-focused features and hands-on migration help.
  • Watch out for: The entry price makes it a poor fit for brands with few subscribers.
  • Pricing: From $299/month plus 1% of subscription revenue. Visit Skio Subscriptions

Our rating 4.3/5

Rebuy powers AI-driven product recommendations, cross-sells, a smart cart drawer and post-purchase offers.

  • Standout: Many placement options from product page to post-purchase, with rules you can fine-tune.

PageFly is a drag-and-drop page builder for landing, product and collection pages, useful when your theme layouts are too rigid for campaigns.

  • Standout: Large template library and fine layout control without a developer.
  • Watch out for: Heavy pages can slow load times, and theme updates sometimes need rework.
  • Pricing: Free for 1 page; paid from $24/month. Visit PageFly Landing Page Builder

14. Shopify Flow — best for free no-code automation of store workflows

Our rating 4.6/5

Flow is Shopify’s own automation tool. You build trigger-condition-action workflows, such as tagging high-value customers, flagging risky orders or alerting staff when stock runs low.

  • Standout: Native, free and connected to many third-party apps through Flow triggers and actions.
  • Watch out for: Complex workflows get hard to maintain, and app support for Flow varies.
  • Pricing: Free. Visit Shopify Flow

15. Shopify Search & Discovery — best for free native search, filters and recommendations

Our rating 4.2/5

Shopify’s free app adds storefront filters, search synonyms, result boosts and product recommendations to compatible themes.

  • Standout: No extra cost or script weight for solid baseline search.
  • Watch out for: Merchandising and analytics are basic compared with dedicated search apps.
  • Pricing: Free. Visit Shopify Search & Discovery

16. Boost AI Search & Filter — best for advanced search and filtering on large catalogs

Our rating 4.3/5

Boost adds AI-assisted search, instant suggestions, advanced filters and merchandising rules for stores with big or complex catalogs.

  • Standout: Granular filter options and merchandising control.
  • Watch out for: Setup and styling take effort, and cost rises with higher plans.
  • Pricing: From $19/month. Visit Boost AI Search & Filter

Customer support and post-purchase

17. Gorgias — best for unified ecommerce support across email, chat and social

Our rating 4.5/5

Gorgias is a helpdesk built for ecommerce. Agents see Shopify order data next to each ticket and can edit, refund or cancel orders without switching tabs.

  • Standout: Order actions inside tickets, macros and automation for common questions.
  • Watch out for: Ticket-based pricing becomes costly in peak seasons.
  • Pricing: Starter from $10/month. Visit Gorgias

18. Tidio — best for small support teams that want live chat and an AI chatbot

Our rating 4.2/5

Tidio combines live chat, a shared inbox and its Lyro AI chatbot, which answers common questions from your help content.

  • Standout: Fast setup and an approachable interface for small teams.
  • Watch out for: AI conversations and advanced features are billed separately, so costs can grow.
  • Pricing: Free basic chat; paid from $29/month. Visit Tidio

19. AfterShip Tracking — best for branded order tracking and delivery notifications

Our rating 4.4/5

AfterShip creates a branded tracking page and sends delivery updates, cutting where-is-my-order tickets.

  • Standout: Supports a very wide range of carriers and adds marketing space to the tracking page.
  • Watch out for: Plans are capped by shipment volume, so busy stores move up tiers quickly.
  • Pricing: Free up to 50 shipments/month; paid from $11/month. Visit AfterShip Tracking

20. Loop Returns & Exchanges — best for scaling brands that want exchange-first returns

Our rating 4.3/5

Loop turns returns into exchanges or store credit where possible, keeping revenue that would otherwise be refunded.

  • Standout: Exchange and store-credit flows built to retain revenue.
  • Watch out for: No public entry price, and it pays off mainly for stores with meaningful return volume.
  • Pricing: Paid plans; see vendor for pricing. Visit Loop Returns & Exchanges

Operations, analytics and growth

21. Matrixify — best for bulk import, export and store migrations

Our rating 4.6/5

Matrixify moves products, customers, orders, redirects and more in and out of Shopify using spreadsheets, and is a standard tool for platform migrations.

  • Standout: Handles almost every store data type in bulk.
  • Watch out for: The spreadsheet templates have a learning curve; mistakes can overwrite data, so test first.
  • Pricing: Free for small imports; paid from $20/month. Visit Matrixify

22. Rewind Backups — best for automatic store data backups and restores

Our rating 4.5/5

Rewind backs up products, themes, customers and other store data automatically, so you can restore items after a bad import, app conflict or human error.

  • Standout: Peace of mind with item-level restores at a low monthly price.
  • Watch out for: It is another subscription, and restoring large data sets still needs care.
  • Pricing: From $9/month. Visit Rewind Backups

23. Triple Whale — best for attribution and profit analytics for paid-media-heavy brands

Our rating 4.2/5

Triple Whale pulls store, ad platform and cost data into dashboards with its own attribution pixel, helping brands judge which campaigns actually drive profit.

  • Standout: One view of blended ad performance and profitability.
  • Watch out for: Pricing scales with revenue, and attribution models still need interpretation.
  • Pricing: From $129/month, scaling with revenue. Visit Triple Whale

24. Weglot — best for fast multilingual stores for international selling

Our rating 4.3/5

Weglot detects and translates store content automatically, then lets you edit translations manually or with professional translators.

  • Standout: Quick launch of new languages with translated URLs for search.
  • Watch out for: Word limits drive cost on big catalogs; Shopify’s free Translate & Adapt app may be enough for simple needs.
  • Pricing: Free up to 2,000 words and 1 language; paid from €15/month. Visit Weglot

25. TinyIMG SEO & Image Optimizer — best for image compression and SEO fixes for faster stores

Our rating 4.0/5

TinyIMG compresses images and handles common SEO tasks such as alt text, structured data and broken-link checks.

  • Standout: Bundles image optimization and SEO housekeeping in one app.
  • Watch out for: Speed gains depend on your theme and other apps; it cannot fix heavy scripts.
  • Pricing: Free up to 50 images/month; paid from $14/month. Visit TinyIMG SEO & Image Optimizer

How to choose Shopify apps for your store

Most stores do not need 25 apps. Use this checklist before installing anything:

  • Start with the job, not the app. Write down the problem (low repeat rate, slow search, too many support tickets) and pick one app per problem.
  • Check native options first. Shopify Flow, Search & Discovery and Translate & Adapt are free and add no extra vendor.
  • Watch performance. Each storefront app can add scripts. Test page speed before and after install, and remove apps you stop using.
  • Model total cost. Contact-based, ticket-based and revenue-share pricing all grow with you. Price the plan you will need in a year.
  • Confirm integrations. Reviews, loyalty and email apps work best when they share data, so check they connect.

When off-the-shelf Shopify apps are not enough

Apps cover common needs well, but some stores hit limits: a pricing rule no app supports, a B2B ordering flow, an ERP or warehouse sync, or five apps doing what one purpose-built tool could do faster. In those cases custom Shopify app development can replace a pile of subscriptions with one private app that fits your process exactly.

Custom work is not always cheaper up front, so compare it against years of app fees. Our guide to what custom eCommerce development costs explains how to budget. If you need ongoing capacity for theme work, integrations and app maintenance, you can also hire Shopify developers on a dedicated basis. When you are ready to scope a project, get a quote and we will map what to build, integrate or keep.

Final verdict

For a new store, a lean starter stack is Omnisend or Klaviyo for email, Judge.me for reviews, Shopify Flow and Search & Discovery for free automation and search, and Rewind for backups. As you scale, add Gorgias for support, Smile or LoyaltyLion for loyalty, Rebuy for AOV and Triple Whale once ad spend is significant.

Apps sit on top of your theme and platform, so get those right first: see our picks for Shopify themes and, if you are still deciding on Shopify itself, our guide to eCommerce platforms.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Still have questions? Talk to a solutions architect — free, no obligation.

What Shopify apps do I really need for a new store?
Most new stores need only a few: an email and SMS app such as Omnisend or Klaviyo, a reviews app such as Judge.me, and a backup app such as Rewind. Shopify's free Flow and Search & Discovery apps cover basic automation and search. Add loyalty, upsell or subscription apps only when you have the traffic and repeat customers to justify them.
Do Shopify apps slow down my store?
They can. Apps that add widgets, pop-ups or tracking to the storefront load extra scripts, and several together can noticeably slow pages. Apps that run only in the admin, such as Matrixify or Rewind, have little storefront impact. Test speed before and after installing, and fully remove apps you no longer use, including any leftover theme code.
Are there good free Shopify apps?
Yes. Shopify Flow and Shopify Search & Discovery are free and made by Shopify. Judge.me, Klaviyo, Omnisend, Smile, AfterShip and TinyIMG all have free plans with usage limits, which is enough for many new stores. Expect to upgrade as order volume, contacts or shipments grow past the free caps.
